Why Postnatal Rehab Matters: The Case for Chiropractic-Led Recovery
Postpartum healing is about more than waiting it out. Many women are left with unresolved symptoms long after birth — from pelvic pain and core instability to emotional burnout and fatigue. Postnatal rehab addresses these concerns directly, giving women the tools and guidance they need to truly recover.
At Nurture 360 in Windsor, Dr. Jaclyn Bastien offers a chiropractic-led postpartum rehab series specifically designed to restore core function, improve mobility, and reduce pain in the weeks, months, or even years after birth.
What Is Postnatal Rehab?
Postnatal rehabilitation is a structured recovery process that supports the healing of tissues and muscles affected during pregnancy and childbirth. It goes far beyond a general return to exercise. Rehab focuses on restoring strength and function to the pelvic floor, core, and surrounding structures to prevent long-term dysfunction.
Why It's Important
Physical Recovery
Pregnancy and childbirth affect the body in profound ways. Postnatal rehab helps address:
Pelvic floor dysfunction
Core weakness or instability
Diastasis recti (abdominal separation)
Pain in the back, hips, or tailbone
Pain Management
Rehab can reduce or eliminate lingering physical discomfort. Common symptoms addressed include:
Hip pain
Tailbone discomfort
Urinary leaking or pressure
Pain during movement or exertion
Mental and Emotional Support
Movement is not only physical — it supports emotional regulation and mental clarity. Rehabilitation can improve mood, reduce anxiety, and help women feel grounded and supported in their bodies again.
Functional Mobility
Postnatal rehab helps moms return to everyday activities — lifting a baby, getting in and out of a car, walking longer distances — with strength and confidence.
Long-Term Prevention
Early intervention can prevent chronic pelvic issues, ongoing incontinence, or prolapse symptoms later in life. It also supports better long-term core function and spinal health.
Education and Empowerment
Classes include instruction on safe movement patterns, breathing, alignment, and strategies for integrating recovery into daily life.
